Run, run…as fast as you can…

As if the last few weeks haven’t been crazy busy…running from one thing to the next in preparation for the holidays…throw in the launch of a book and a whack of personal craziness…in the middle of it all, Bones wanted to bake cookies! As in…make the dough, roll the dough, cut the dough out into shapes then cook them kind of cookies.

Long gone are the days where we’d sit side by side, me measuring ingredients and her plopping them into the bowl as flour exploded into the air. No longer is she begging to crack the egg leaving me to pick out egg shells. Gone are the days of cleaning cookie dough off the ceiling from her taking the beaters out of the bowl at full speed.

This time, Bones chose to do it all herself.

And, with the PC Gingerbread Cookie Mix…it wasn’t a problem.

While I quietly worked in the next room, she added the eggs, mixed the ingredients, rolled it all out, pressed it into shapes and loaded the little men in the oven.

With zero help from me.

In fact, she even had it all cleaned up by the time I finished my work and came to inspect.

Life is busy. Over the holidays, I plan on taking a little time to slow down. Curl up on the couch and watch a movie with my kids, bake a few cookies, play a game or two. I’m hoping for a few laughs and much needed together time.

In the meantime, the Gingerbread men that Bones made were fantastic…evident from the simple fact that they were all gone by morning.

Or maybe they had things to do…and took off running!
