Divergent…

I’ll admit, I haven’t read Divergent! However, I asked on the Curtains are Open Facebook Page if anyone had read the best selling novel and the responses were FANTASTIC.

So…I’m on it.

In fact, thanks to the folks at eOne Films, I’m on it immediately as today, the book arrived at my door!

And along with the book, I have prize packages and tickets to THE ADVANCED SCREENING OF DIVERGENT taking place at Cineplex Theatres Park Lane on Wednesday, March 19th, 2014 at 7PM!!!

Yup…according to my daughter Bones and every other person out there who’s read the book…this movies is going to be AMAZING!

So…while I’m getting caught up on a little reading…go ahead and enter the contest! Divergent Prize packages include a yoga mat, divergent swag and 2 tickets to the advanced screening of this fantastic movie!

Here’s the synopsis:

“Divergent s a thrilling adventure set in a future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities, Tris Prior (Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it’s too late. Set in a futuristic dystopia where society is divided into five factions that each represent a different virtue, teenagers have to decide if they want to stay in their faction or switch to another – for the rest of their lives. Tris Prior makes a choice that surprises everyone. Then Tris and her fellow faction-members have to live through a highly competitive initiation process to live out the choice they have made. They must undergo extreme physical and intense psychological tests, that transform them all. But Tris has a secret that she is Divergent, which means she doesn’t fit into any one group. If anyone knew, it would mean a certain death. As she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, this secret might help her save the people she loves… or it might destroy her.”

30 Replies to “Divergent…”

  1. I have not read the book. The movie looks good. I might have to see the movie first this time! I usually prefer to read the book first.

    • Me too…I’m going to read the book this week but the movie looks fantastic!)

  2. I haven’t read Divergent yet, but it’s definitely on my list! I usually like to read the book first, but if I win, I might not get it read in time for the movie! I will be sharing your post on facebook! TLH

  3. I saw the trailer on youtube and was slightly interested in reading the books after seeing that. Shortly after seeing the trailer my boyfriend and I went to a friends to partake in game night and the hostess was talking about this movie coming out called Divergent. I started to listen and then she said that I could borrow the book to see if I would like the series. Now, I’m a slow reader and I finished that sucker in 3 days and hungry for the next one.

After finding the book through NSCC (thrilled no less) I finally got to read the second book. This one took a bit longer to read because I realized I still have school work to do, and I can’t stop everything to read a book. The second book was just as captivating as the first, except all hell breaks loose and Tris and Fours relationship grow. Of course, when I finished the second book I immediately wanted to read the third book but unfortunately there was a hold in the library and 200 people on the waiting list to read it. Eager to read the last and final book of the series I found a .pdf file online. People do bad things when they are desperate for something. (oops)

The third book was a bit different, thus far the series was written in the perspective of Tris Prior, but in this book it was written from both Tris and Four, going back and fourth, letting out feelings and finally getting into the head of another character from the series. I was however a bit skeptical to read this last novel as there were mixed feelings in reviews I had read on websites. It was a good ending to the series, and was an emotional roller coaster to say the least. I will admit, I cried.

I will be excited to see how the movies are adapted and which way the director takes them. At this point the movie looks promising and exciting like what I read in the pages of the novel, meaning it could be as successful and intriguing as The Hunger Games series, but it could also go down the road of Twilight. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the Twilight books, but the movies were crap and the only exciting thing about them was the fight scene when everyone’s heads came off. Oh, and Jacob taking off his shirt, that guy was ripped. Anyways, this is enough, didn’t even expect to wright this much to begin with. Cheers.

  4. The response from my niece was OMG OMG OMG you have to win 🙂 We have both read the book and loved the series but the ending of the 3rd book was very sad. Be prepared if you read it all and get emotionally involved with the characters like she did. Shared on facebook

  5. I have read the first book only so far and found it an intriguing read. It quickly pulled me in where I read the book in a day and a half. I was hesitant at first upon reading the synopsis of the book because it did not seem like something I would enjoy……turns out I was wrong! I will definitely be finishing the trilogy. Can’t wait to start Insurgent!!!!!!

  6. I did not read these books but I know I will enjoy the movie. I liked the Hunger Games books and movies which are similar.

    Thanks!

  7. Divergent is one of my favourite books and I’m so excited for the movie! I’m still reading Allegiant right now and I’m kind of nervous to finish it. Crazy things are happening!

  8. I read the series and loved the books. I’ve been so excited to see the movie! I heard it was like The Hunger Games; although it is a dystopian novel, I much prefer that there isn’t a love triangle. I also found the book to have a lot more development than THG, there was a lot to learn about the factions but also there were so many back stories to the characters! Hope the movie does it justice 🙂

  9. I read the book and LOVED it. In fact, I’m currently holding off on reading the final book because I’m not ready for it to be over, haha. I can’t wait to see the movie!

  10. I read the first two books and reading the third. They are amazing and the movie looks fantastic, looks very true to the book! Also shared on facebook!

  11. I haven’t actually read the book, but my brother has and he said they’re really good!

  14. I have not read any of the books. My teenager son told me about the movie & I’m interested in taking him to see this movie. I loved watching the trailers. I too am now interested in this movie.
I’ve shared on Facebook & Twitter. Thank you.

  15. Hello! I have actually read this book. I’m currently reading the last one in the series “Allegiant” not as exciting as the first two but it is good. I’ve been anticipating this film since I first heard about it being made about 2 years ago. The movie looks awesome and I can’t wait to see it!

  16. I haven’t read the books yet, but there’s a huge buzz about it among my friends and I! Would love to go.

  17. I haven’t read it but I am going to! I am picking up the book today! If I win the tickets I will need to read quickly! I need a date night! I wanna wiiiinnnnnnnn!

  18. I’ve read the first book and loved it! Then I bought the second and third and only made it 3 quarters through the second. 🙁 I’m hoping the movie will spur me on to finishing the series!
