Getting Creative with FAT Paints…

hue_22

It was a lovely afternoon that brought together a group of bloggers at HUE Design Studios in Halifax’s North End.

Nestled just behind the shops at the Hydrostone Market, HUE Design is filled with paint, wallpaper and decor but the best part of all…HUE has the most amazing shop owner just ready to help out with all of your DIY needs.

A colour consultant and decorator for 12 years, Michele Muir brings a great amount of knowledge to her shop…and she’s happy to share.

The East Coast Moms were thrilled when Michelle invited our group on a Sunday afternoon to learn about what she has in store. It was an afternoon of laughter and art as we learned about various techniques and products. While Michelle offers various workshops, we chose to take the Sign Making Workshop where we started with a blank board, chose stencils and paint colours…and finished our day with fantastic pieces to be proud of.

It really shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that I picked a “Queen” theme. In fact, while looking at the beautiful furniture knobs that Michelle stocks, I even managed to find these fabulous crown drawer pulls!

HUE Designs carries the complete line of FAT paints. Developed by a brother/sister duo, Victoria and Bradford, it’s 100% Canadian owned. FAT paint is a chalk style paint that “goes on smooth and finishes with flair.” With no need for a primed coat, FAT paint is incredibly lovely to work with from the moment the brush first touched the board until we added the final finishing touch.

This month, FAT released its brand new Amanda Forrest collection with each colour in the palette representing Amanda in a different way. Check out her awesome video that explains exactly what each colour means!

Then pop into HUE Designs to pick up the paint for you next DIY project!
