2016…the year in photos…

2016_1

While 2016 winds down to a finish, I’ve taken a few moments to reflect on a year that split my time between work and family…along with a bit of time spent with friends.

The most exciting event of the year was definitely the celebration of my parent’s 50th Wedding Anniversary! Family gathered from one end of the country to the other in the most epic party at White Point Beach filled with music, laughter, food and love.

I introduced you to my children. REALLY introducing you this time by revealing their actual names rather than using their blog nicknames…The Tall Blond, Spiderman and Bones. All three have kept me busy as they continue to thrive and take on new adventures. Noah graduated from High School, attended Prom, played what I thought was his last game of hockey and headed off to university as I tried to comprehend what daily life would be like without him home! Megan and I went to Waterloo for her volleyball Nationals, she made the Canada Games Training Team and showed off her beautiful new smile. Emily was back at university in Ottawa for her final year of a translation degree while also working at Parliament and enjoying settling into and decorating her new apartment. As a family, we visited Ottawa to tour where she worked, attend a Bieber concert and try out some fabulous restaurants…and I also returned a few months later for a bit of mom and daughter time.

While the kids have kept me busy, I managed to escape for a weekend away with a few girlfriends and stayed at an amazing “off-the-grid” home just outside of Lunenburg, put my house on the market (it’s still for sale if you’re interested), attended a fabulous blogging conference in Ontario, attended my 30th high school reunion, reconnected with some of my oldest friends and went away with them for a weekend retreat, spoke at Blogjam 2016, and went to Florida for a little shopping and down time.

I have three companies and three children I’m incredibly proud of, another Best of the Coast award to add to my bathroom wall, just under 100 blog posts written for this year, wonderful projects, fabulous design clients, amazing brands and PR companies that work with me…I’ve the luxury to use my creativity and I walk into my office every day THRILLED with the path I’m on. It’s been a hugely successful year for me professionally…and I’m excited for what’s ahead.

Here’s to 2016…a year in pictures…

In a nutshell, 2016 was BUSY and while I started the year with the lofty goal of achieving”Balance”…I dreadfully failed. Luckily, a new year is upon us and as I close the book on this one, I’m looking forward to setting a few new goals, chasing exciting adventures, and finding a few extra hours in each week to breathe!

Happy New Year…wishing you much joy, love and laughter. Thanks for following along with the adventures at Curtains are Open…I promise to bring you more.
