Little-One…

When all hell broke loose, she climbed inside me. I’m not sure how it happened but I do know when.

I was on the floor… in a ball, turned inside out… not willing to unfold myself. She got down next to me and somehow curled her little body under and around mine until we were one.

She never left.

We stayed that way for what seems like forever. She slept with me for a few nights… not wanting to leave my side. Scared where my head would take me.  Shock had taken over and for the first few days… she brought me through it. Stayed with me. Cried with me. Screamed with me. Laughed with me. Protected me. Breathed for me.

Along with my family and an amazing group of friends, she was with me every day through the collapse of my marriage… and then six months in… she left.  An opportunity presented itself for her family to go to Dubai and while I didn’t think I’d find the strength for her to go… I did.

As time went on… as time is the only healer… I slowly began to uncurl myself.  In the year and a half that she’s been gone my life has changed dramatically and yet… she’s still with me every step of the way.  But this isn’t about me… it’s about her.  For the year and a half that she’s been gone.. her life has changed as well.

Today… I finally took the time to read Little-One’s new blog and get a feel for what she’s been up to.  She’s a photographer… photographing my children through the years… capturing their spirit and gumption as only she can.  She’s had amazing opportunities since being in Dubai… travelling to remote and beautiful places… her career exploding.  While I’ve been wrapped up in my little world… hers has grown in leaps and bounds and I can’t begin to tell you how proud I am.

Take a peek at her blog and website to see what she’s been up to.  She goes deep into the souls of people as only Little-One can… touching their hearts… capturing their spirits… telling their story through her lens.

Peer into the eyes of the people she captures to see how deep inside me she is… how she’s never left…

how lucky I am.
