Wining about Periods… #AsanaWoman

asana8

I called a time out.

In the middle of everything going on in our lives…we needed a break. A small recess from work, worries, kids and chaos…to breathe.

I gathered a group of girlfriends in my living room…to laugh.

We shared, told stories, caught up with one another and spent some much-needed quality time together.

I’d been asked by Asana, creator of sanitary napkins, to write a blog post about periods. So, being that it had been awhile since we’d caught up on each other’s lives, I thought I’d take advantage of the opportunity to have a gathering of girlfriends…where we’d chat about anything and everything to do with being women.

Before they arrived…I set the table complete with wine, sparkly water, chocolate dipped strawberries and a charcuterie board for snacking.

That afternoon, I’d gathered the supplies to make Lavender Bath Salts and picked up some chocolates so I could send each of my girlfriends home with a little “treat” for the next time they’re visited by Aunt Flo, The Red Canoe, The Tomato Boat, Sunday Bloody Sunday…or the other ridiculous names they came up with for their “monthly curse!”

The clincher for the night…I filmed the entire thing!

“What’s your most embarrassing period story,” I asked.

And the floodgates opened. (Pardon the pun!)

Here’s what my friends had to share…

It was a night full of laughs (and a couple of tears) with multiple conversations that ended up on the cutting room floor!

We went home with smiles on our faces and hearts filled with joy…knowing we’re surrounded by a great amount of love and support by this group of ridiculous, hilarious, awesome women. Where support is the very first thing offered when someone has something important going on…and life, as crazy as it can be…is best shared with friends.

Period.
