Wish List Wednesday 2022 – Week 1

About this Post: Each Wednesday leading up to the holidays, I’ll be sharing some of my favourite things à la Oprah Winfrey! I’m so happy to share with you treasures from amazing local shops in my Wish List Wednesday posts! Make sure you click on the links to see what else these fabulous companies have in store!

Wish List Wednesdays are back and this year, I’m once again sharing my favourite things from some of my favourite local shops! To be honest, I can’t believe we’re getting ready for the holiday season as it seems only last week it was SUMMER! But, here we are. I’ve just finished decorating my home, I’m about to begin some baking, and I’m deep into watching all of the cheesy holiday movies. It’s truly the best time of year!

Each week, I’ll share with you something cozy, something shiny, something to wear, something tasty, something that makes me smile, and something for the home.

SOMETHING COZY:

For starters, is there anything cozier than a soft cardigan sweater? I mean seriously, they’re so cozy that SNL made an entire spoof about our love of Sweater Weather! What’s better than a cozy sweater? How about one from a company that curates sustainable clothing and truly believes in making a difference to our planet!

PHITCetera is located on Larry Uteck and is a “must visit” shop as there are SO MANY beautiful things in store for both men and women. As stated on their website, “We prioritize brands who use natural, eco-friendly fabrics that will easily go back into the earth. We partner with companies who deliver on the commitments we’ve made to decrease our carbon footprint.”

My love of sweaters (especially cardigans you can pull on over a t-shirt) runs pretty deep, so it should be no surprise it’s on my favourites list! This Lilac Cardigan is made by Ten Tree, a company that plants ten trees for each article of clothing sold!

PHITCetera is currently FILLED with all the sweaters you can imagine just perfect for the holidays. In fact, check out the entire COZY section on their website. It truly has all of the cozy vibes that make this season so fantastic!

SOMETHING SHINY:

While Mudwraps to Manicures is best known for their SPA Services, their shop carries beautiful products including purses, hats & scarves, lingerie & flannel jammies, make-up & skin products, jewellery, reading glasses and much, much more! I took a liking to these shiny earrings from Birch Jewellery, designed and made in Ottawa and just the perfect amount of bling for your holiday parties!

Drop by my favourite spa and do a little shopping. While you’re at it, make sure to book your holiday manicure and pedicure or treat yourself to any number of their fabulous services! Seriously…you deserve it!!

SOMETHING TASTY:

For something tasty…I’m going with a BRAND NEW product from Black Harbour Distillery…the Toasted Marshmallow Vodka! And yes, I’ll be adding it to my hot chocolate this holiday season because MARSHMALLOWS!!!!!

I’m a fan of Black Harbour not only for their entrepreneurial story (click here to learn all about Jamie Landry), but also for the taste of their products, their beautiful location, and the fabulous events they throw!

In fact, if you’re looking for a place to host an event, I can attest that Black Harbour Distillery is the perfect place for a celebration!

SOMETHING FUNNY:

Combine a few East Coast sayings and my love of funny t-shirts…and Noreaster Apparrel does not disappoint. I mean, CHECK OUT THIS HOOTERS APRON!!! You know you have someone on your list who’d get a kick out of this!

If you enjoy a bit of East Coast humour, Gawd Love Ya’, this company’s right up your alley!

SOMETHING TO WEAR:

Nestled in the North End of Halifax on the corner of Clifton and Willow is one of my very favourite stationary shops, Paper Hearts!

This shop is not only filled with sentimental, hilarious, heartwarming and beautifully designed cards for every occasion (made by various local designers), but it’s also filled with a variety of treasures that are displayed so beautifully you truly don’t know where to rest your eyes!

I spent a fair bit of time smelling all of the candles, admiring the lovely jewellery, chuckling over funny socks, trying out the mugs and glassware (yes, you have to see how they feel in your hand!), and enjoying all of the holiday decor including local ornaments depicting Peggy’s Cove, the Sullivan Pond Ducks, a Halifax Transit Bus, and our infamous Woody the Christmas Tree!!!

With so many treasures, I found it hard to pick an item for my Wish List but was rather smitten with this matching hat and mitt set!

There are so many stocking stuffers and gifts filling their shelves that you really should add this sweet shop to your list of places to visit this holiday season!

SOMETHING FOR THE HOUSE:

If you’re looking for a special gift for someone who adores their cottage, wants a taste of “home”, or enjoys a fishing adventure…how about print of their favourite lake from Atlantic Lake Life!

Currently there are 38 designs available and each digital print comes in two sizes and multiple colour choices. Have a peek to see if your favourite lake is available! Order, print, frame and wrap…and have it under the tree for the lake lover in your life!

SOMETHING FROM ME:

For the sentimental person on your list, how about showing them how much you appreciate them by listing all of the reasons they belong on Santa’s Nice List!

This 12×12 digital print can be customized for your loved one and ready in time for the holidays. Visit my Etsy shop to order and while you’re there, have a peek at prints for all of your upcoming milestone events!

You can follow my graphic design shop on Instagram at Drawbridge Creative, or my blog on Instagram at Queen of Curtains.

ALL DONE BUT THE WRAPPING!

And that’s a wrap for this Wednesday! A HUGE thanks to all of the businesses who are taking part in this year’s Wednesday Wish List! I’ve had a great time visiting in person and perusing the online shops to find my “favourite things”.

I love sharing these Wish Lists that showcase local shops and truly enjoy meeting the owners and hearing about their entrepreneurial journeys! I’ve picked my favourites, but please click on the links and visit their social media and online shops to see what else they have in store! I guarantee, you’ll find something special for each and every person on your list this year (plus, likely a few things for yourself as well!)

Happy Holidays
Colleen
