Wednesday Wish List 2022 – Week 2

About this Post: Each “Wish List Wednesday” leading up to the holidays, I’ll be sharing some of my favourite things à la Oprah Winfrey! This is week two of the Wednesday Wish List. Enjoy!

Week 1 of Wish List Wednesday was a fabulous success with so many of you clicking on the links to view more products and dropping by to visit some of my favourite local shops. A HUGE thank you from the bottom of my heart!

In Week 1, I featured the first 6 of my favourite things in the exact same gift categories I like to find under my tree on Christmas morning… something cozy, something shiny, something to wear, something tasty, something that makes me smile, and something for the home.

Here are the next six!!!

SOMETHING COZY:

If you haven’t quite found that “holiday spirit” yet and you’re waiting for it to whack you in the head… might I suggest a visit to Kept Shop located on King Street in Dartmouth (the sister-store to Paper Hearts that was featured last week!)

Christmas literally BLEW UP in this shop with trees, ornaments and holiday decor galore! Everywhere you look there’s something else to uncover! Plus, mixed in with the beautiful decor that will add to your home’s coziness this Christmas, there are numerous gift ideas for every single person on your list from the very youngest… to the more mature.

It I HAD to pick one favourite item from this shop (which is hard as there are so many beautiful things), I’d have to say the MacAusland’s Woolen Mills blankets, available in a variety of colours, are high on my list. As a former hockey mom, there was nothing better than a wool blanket at the rink and these ones, made in Prince Edward Island, are absolutely stunning and just the right amount of coziness!

If you’re looking for a little holiday spirit where the colours and scents are aplenty, this shop is definitely the place as you’ll find two floors of perfectly displayed, fabulous treasures! Drop in for a visit… and tell them I said hello!

SOMETHING SHINY:

Bet you thought I’d only have jewellery in the shiny section didn’t ya!?! Well, to be honest, it’s possible there’s a little “crow” in my DNA as I’m ALL ABOUT THE SHINY THINGS and these pots from Big Erics definitely fit the bill!

Included in this 12 piece stainless steel (ie; shiny) Zwilling cookware set is a 1.0 litre sauce pan, a 1.5 and 2.0 litre sauce pot, a 3.0 litre stew pot, a 4.0 litre stock pot, and a sauté pan – all with precision fitting lids…add water, seasonings and your choice of ingredients, and you’ve got yourself a feast perfect for friends and family this holiday season.

Big Eric’s is best known as a restaurant supply store HOWEVER, they have a HUGE retail section just waiting for you to pick out the perfect gift for the chef or baker on your list! And, if you really need that massive ice-cream freezer to house all of your tubs of candy cane ice-cream, they can certainly help with that too!

SOMETHING TASTY:

Just in time for the holidays are two new and tasty kombucha flavours from the folks at Connected Beverages… Blueberry Lavender and Orange Chai.

Drop by the Seaport Market to pick up these new flavours in 750ml bottles! Being that they’re my absolute favourite Kombucha…I’ll be stocking up for sure.

SOMETHING FUNNY:

Have you noticed that folks seem to be spending a little extra time in the bathroom lately? Turns out, more and more people are “toilet scrolling” and therefore, Posh has the perfect hand towel for your powder room!

With shops in Halifax, Bedford and Charlottetown, Posh claims it’s a place to find funky things for fussy people!! If you’ve a fussy person on your list…or someone who likes funky things…this shop is the place for you as it’s filled with art and home decor, bath and body products, clothing and accessories, and kitchen and dining ware… with many of their items curated from local artisans.

I’ve visited the shop many, many times and am often chuckling over their more “saucy” items including these bathroom hand towels with a variety of sayings including one that says “my cat and I talk shit about you.” (Pop by my bathroom, where you’ll find it proudly hanging as my cat and I truly have some hilarious conversations!)

  • Shop online at Posh!
  • Visit their shop in Historic Properties, Halifax, Sunnyside Mall, Bedford, or Peake’s Quay, Charlottetown

SOMETHING TO WEAR:

Gone are the long underwear from days of yore as Elita Intimates’ microfiber long-sleeved top and thermal leggings look and feel like silk, while also being toasty warm… perfect for the ski hill, a skate around the oval on a crisp evening, or a winter’s hike!

Elita Intimates (a Stanfield’s Brand) ships to addresses around the world from their headquarters in Truro, Nova Scotia. Take a moment to browse through their inclusive sized bras, panties, slips, and camisoles designed for modern women who appreciate luxurious, natural fabrics, with superb feminine design, fit and comfort.

SOMETHING FOR THE HOUSE:

I have been smitten with the exquisite Larch Wood end-grain boards from the moment I first set eyes on them nearly two decades ago. Made using the Canadian larch (known locally as tamarack or juniper) in Margaree, Cape Breton, these boards are works of art! In fact, visit their website to see how they’re made and you’ll definitely agree.

These beautiful cutting boards, cheese boards, chopping blocks, and food and sushi presentation boards come in a variety of shapes and sizes and can be found in the most exquisite kitchens around the world! Plus, Larch Wood also makes knives, kitchen stools AND you can even have a countertop designed just for you!

Take a moment to view the Larch Wood catalog online where you’re sure to find a gift that will be treasured for years to come.

SOMETHING FROM ME:

For the sentimental person on your list, how about showing them how much you appreciate them by listing all of the reasons they belong on Santa’s Nice List!
