I hit the play button with Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Jann Arden, Sarah McLachlan and Amanda Marshall in cue… my very own Lilith Fair. I was in a mood… and by the time the drive was over… I was in a fabulous mood.
There I was… pounding out “I have given, I have given and got none.”… not missing a single word and wanting much, much more! Songs from the multiple 90’s road trips I’d enjoyed so many years before were belting from my throat… leaving my voice strained and my mind wondering… whatever happened to Amanda Marshall? And… does anyone else recall her growing up in Halifax?
Seems Marshall’s had a bit of a hiatus… something about a fuss with her record label and not being able to discuss the details. However, turns out she was at Casino Rama just last week… and the fan reviews were FABULOUS! Not only that… rumor has it Amanda’s been in the recording studio and a new CD is in the works. She’s coming back… heading towards the spotlight. I can’t imagine I’ll be the only one dusting off the old records and searching out a concert date.
No one said it better than Marshal… in her low, raspy, magical voice… “Everybody’s got a story that’ll break your heart.” Well my friend… we’re ready to hear the stories again… both the old and the new.
