I’m a Mommy Blogger…

 I’ve been grinning like “The Cheshire Cat” since yesterday’s discovery that I’d been included in “She Knows Canada’s” post on the “10 Canadian Mom Bloggers We Love” article! (Thanks Nichole Beaudry for finding me!)

The description being “Queen, author of Curtains Are Open, has one of the best about pages we’ve seen. The random bits of information on that single page give a great sense of who she is. We love her refreshing voice and her ability to one day write from a place of vulnerability and the next day show us her fun sense of humour.”

WOW!!!  I can’t begin to tell you how absolutely thrilled I am albeit a little stressed about my lack of humour lately as it seems that one sappy post after the next is crowding the pages of my blog!

My day continued with numerous Likes, Tweets, Comments and E-mails…  an enlarged heart and sore cheeks from smiling! Thank you… thank you… thank you. While I’ve always wanted to write and this last two years of blogging has propelled me forward in ways I can’t begin to explain, it’s quite possible it’s lifting me even higher than I ever dreamt possible and OMG I CAN’T EVEN BEGIN TO FINISH THIS SENTENCE as what I hope and dream is far too big to publicly put in writing!

Shhhhh…. calm down… deep breath… for now, I’m just basking in the glory of more people following me while keeping my random private thoughts at bay!

In the meantime, I was asked by a reader to make a list of my more popular posts… so I took a look. Fact is… if I look at the “numbers” (and I’m not even sure I’m running the right software, that the numbers are right or if it even makes sense since some of my early posts only received a few dozen readers each) the most popular posts are those I’ve written on Amanda Marshall, Adele and Demi Lovato! To be honest, that says little about my writing and more about the simple fact that folks are nuts about “googling” celebrities! Then, there’s the one about Donairs and another about Tattoos that goodness knows what people are searching to find those (though I can see some of the search terms and people are really freaky) but honestly, those posts don’t have anything to do with how I write either!
So… weeding through some of the things that don’t make sense (and the ton of people who find me by searching “curtains are open during sex”)… here are a few of the more popular posts on my site in no particular order…
The Grass is Always Greener A divorce rant… on weeds… and how to keep them off your lawn!
Supermom My acceptance into school and inevitable end of my days as a stay-at-home mom… had me a little less than impressed.
Hindsight is twenty twenty Spending my days back at school with twenty-somethings, has me wishing I knew back then… what I know right now!
Ouija My fear of Ouija boards… and the discovery of one outside my bedroom door.
Spiderman How my son got his name.
They said Coyote not Cougar My first attempt at fighting down the “cougar” rumors! (I’ve since given up!)
Angel The tragic death of my daughter’s friend to suicide.
Celebration The day I thought my divorce was finalized… though in the end it didn’t happen for a few more months… but whatever!
Wah Wah Wah Too tired to lift my head… I spilled my guts in a major rant in my attempts to get a few “poor you” comments on my blog. (And I got a Lasagna!)

My Friends are Crazy… Period A ridiculous night with my friend Crazy in an embarrassment of foolishness!

Growing up not so OK Why I’m not fit to have “the talk” with my children.

Anyway… those are a handful of the more than 500 posts that have received an abundance of views… usually because folks decide to hit the “Share” button on Facebook or “Retweet” them on Twitter causing more and more readers to find me. If you’ve been a reader for awhile or are new to the blog, click on the Labels on the side for topics you’d enjoy or head back to the beginning to find something you’ve missed!  I’m not really sure how I’m supposed to generate traffic or what all the numbers mean as while I’m trying to spread the word… really all I can do is write and if my writing moves you to comment or share… then all the better!

Check out the other nine mom’s listed in the article… there are so many wonderful bloggers out there and I keep a list under the tab “Blogs I Follow” as I discover them! It’s right next to the “About Me” tab that apparently, found me a place in the top ten list to begin with!

  1. I am seriously still on cloud nine about all of this too! 🙂 Congrats again, and I can't wait to continue to follow your blog now that we've both been included in this lovely little list. I'm just ashamed that I didn't know about you before, since, you know, we're local!

  2. @Laura… by local I'm assuming you mean slightly NUTS! And yes… I'm a little embarrassed I haven't been following you as well! Guess you've just been busy having babies… I have NO excuse!
