Wednesday Wish List 2022 – Week 4

About this Post: Each Wednesday leading up to the holidays, I’ll share with you some of my favourite things from local shops and entrepreneurs! Click on the links to purchase online, follow them on social media, or visit their shops where I’m sure they’d be delighted to see you!

It’s WEEK FOUR of the Wednesday Wish Lists and you know what that means…it’s CHRISTMAS WEEK and as the holiday errands come to an end, it’s time to relax with family and friends!

THANK YOU to each and every one of you who are sharing these lists and using them to help with your holiday gifting this year – I can 100 percent promise that the local companies I’ve featured, are incredibly grateful for you. If you’re still looking for the perfect gift…make sure to visit Week 1, Week 2, and Week 3 as well!

Here are Week 4’s picks for something cozy, something shiny, something to wear, something tasty, something that makes me smile, and something for the home.

SOMETHING SHINY:

I’ve been a fan of Incandescent since it first opened…much for the clothing as for the conversations with the shop’s owner, Warna. In fact, recently Warna and I took our “Real Talk” conversations online! You can see the first episode on the shop’s instagram feed!

Incandescent is filled with fabulous fashion from size small to 3X as well as various accessories like scarves, belts, purses and beautiful jewellery.

For something shiny this week, I”m featuring the beautiful opera necklaces locally made by Liza Gray Designs and featuring Swarovski crystals and pearls. Dress them up…or dress them down!

Visit Incandescent for a cozy outfit for the holidays or something a little more fancy for New Years Eve…and while you’re there, have a lovely chat with one of my favourite entrepreneurs!

SOMETHING TASTY:

Have you ever ever hung chocolate on the tree? I certainly haven’t but Rousseau Chocolate has a brand new product that’s beautiful enough to decorate your tree with!

You can never go wrong with buying someone chocolate especially these works of art that are ALMOST too beautiful to eat! Head to their shop for an amazing cup of hot chocolate and pick up a gorgeous box of assorted chocolates for you or a loved one to enjoy through the holidays.

SOMETHING FUNNY:

When my oldest was a wee one, we lived in the ground floor apartment of my parent’s home and there was a bit of a draft that came from under the door. Whenever we’d come into the house, I’d put a rolled-up towel at the base of the door as a way to “keep the draft out”. One day, on arrival into the house on a warm day when there was no need to lay down the towel, my daughter had a hilarious fit…scared out of her little mind that the “giraffe” was going to get in!!! GIRAFFE!! She though I was keeping giraffe out! (Same kid thought I ordered a medium gobble gobble at the Tim Horton’s drive thru!)

These sweet little cards from my daughter’s creative friend Sarah, remind me of simple days!

Give Hoppy Cards a follow on Instagram and keep this sweet shop in mind for all of your animal loving friends. And I truly hope your holiday season is nice, warm, and free from pesky giraffes!

SOMETHING TO WEAR:

Vicky Mina is known for her makeup artistry and for making women look beautiful. But, even bigger than that, she’s known for making women FEEL beautiful and there’s nothing better to wear than a confident smile!

While Vicky sells her own line of makeup (there are still a few holiday lip sets in stock), she’s also available for booking make-up applications, and my very favourite… she TEACHES make-up application for individuals or for a group of friends.

Visit her shop online for fabulous products or book a session with her in the New Year!

SOMETHING FOR THE HOUSE:

I featured The Curated Root last week and chatted about the fabulous on-line deals for fashion, but The Curated Root also carries home goods and there is lots in the warehouse just waiting to be delivered to your front door!

This beautiful Oval Framed mirror retails at $225, but it’s online at The Curated Root for $135.

And these fabulous Kenzo Modern counter height barstools (set of 2) typically retail for $575 but can be found at The Curated Root for $375.

If you’re looking for ANYTHING, check out what’s in stock at The Curated Root before you look anywhere else – they even have a few Christmas Trees left in stock!!!

SOMETHING COZY:

I typically start these Wednesday Wish Lists with “something cozy” – but this week I saved it for last. The fact is, we all want to live cozy, comfortable lives but unfortunately, that’s not always the case. In fact, coming out of this pandemic, we’re hearing of more and more people who are struggling and in many cases, their basic needs aren’t being met.

I’ve spent the last four weeks showcasing holiday gifts from local shops and entrepreneurs as I truly believe that supporting local is part of building our community…but the other part, likely the more important part, is giving to those in need.

I’ve been following the work of the folks at Shelter Movers for the last few years and it’s a fabulous organization that provides free moving and storage to people who are leaving abuse. I’ve a dear friend who both works with and volunteers with Shelter Movers, and I’m truly in awe of all she does to help others in need. If you’re looking to volunteer with a wonderful organization, they’re always looking for new people! Also this month, they have a new partner who’s matching donations! Click on the image and follow them for more information.

This holiday, my greatest wish is that you reach a little deeper into your pockets to help out the food banks, the shelters, and the various organizations that promote our physical and mental well-being. More than ever, these organizations are depending on those who can, to help those less fortunate.

ALL DONE BUT THE WRAPPING!

And that’s a wrap on the 2022 holiday wish lists!

A HUGE HUGE thank you to all of the shops who took part this year in my Wednesday Wish Lists! It was such a thrill to visit the shops, meet amazing entrepreneurs and find my “favourite things”. I wish you all a successful holiday season and hope you get some well-deserved rest with your loved ones in the next few days.

Happy Holidays
Colleen
