The Ripple Effect – Introducing our Imposter Sister, Jennifer O’Neil

It’s Episode Two of Imposter Sisters, where myself, Colleen O’Dea, and my super-cool friend, Alix Robinson, self proclaimed “fake it ’til you make it” experts, discuss and analyze the ups and downs of feeling like frauds as we navigate through our professional and personal lives! In this week’s episode, we introduce our Imposter Sister, Jennifer O’Neil

Imposter Sister – Jennifer O’Neil

Raising her daughter as a single parent and working as a high level professional in a male-dominated industry, Jennifer O’Neil discusses the pressures of needing to “work harder” and feeling a little beat up through the years while not always feeling supported. In 2022, Jennifer decided to step away from her career and chase a lifelong dream of being a realtor! With a newfound lease on her work life, Jennifer chats about the need to support women in their professional and personal lives, how she gives back through her volunteer work with Shelter Movers, and how a positive workplace culture can make all the difference.

More about Jen

Although we were only a few grades apart in High School and have a few friends in common, I didn’t meet Jennifer until early 2019 when we both joined the networking group, The Momentum Shift. Our group of 8 women meet monthly, supporting one another in both our professional and personal lives. While Jen has vast business knowledge to share, she is a HUGE cheerleader for each of us as we travel on our journeys finding purpose and fulfillment in our careers. The Momentum Shift is a mixture of women from various industries and backgrounds and through the years, we’ve truly become great friends. I believe everyone should have such a group of women who are in your corner, offering advice and support…and if you’re a woman in business who isn’t in a networking group, I encourage you to either find one or start one. It’s made a big difference in my life.

While our relationship started from this group, Jen and I began spending a bit of extra time together as we live fairly close to one another. Whether it’s a coffee date or a weekend away, Jen is a great amount of fun to spend time with… always up for an adventure, a trip to the beach or a weekend away. In fact, I wasn’t kidding in the podcast when I said that Hurricane Fiona ATE one of my favourite places. Jen had a spectacularly comfortable GLAMPER on the North Shore and I’ve had the great privilege of being able to leave the world behind and enjoy some relaxation in this wonderful spot. I will miss it… and look forward to the day that Jennifer rebuilds something in its place (but not a tent, I have my limits!)

In the podcast, Jen spoke about being kind, serving others, giving back, sharing knowledge and how small acts of kindness can change the course of someone’s day. Jen practices what she preaches. If you’re looking for a realtor in Nova Scotia, or just a friendly face popping up on your social media newsfeed…give Jen a follow!

The Podcast:

Imposter Sisters was recorded at The Mellow Mug coffee shop which is near and dear to our hearts. A huge shoutout and thanks to Marquessa and her team for being the sweetest supporters and serving up the best drinks and treats.

  1. One of my favourite humans interviewing another one of my favourite humans, alongside one of my favourite IG humans? The stars have aligned into the most cosmic confluence of awesomeness I could have never have imagined. 💕 I’m grateful for the mastermind, not just for the peace and support it brings—but also for the amazing people it has brought into my life.

Everybody go get yourself a Colleen or a Jennifer—I’m lucky enough to have both😉—your life will definitely be the better for it! ❤️
