About this Post: For ten Wednesdays leading up to the holidays, I’ll share with you some of my favourite things (ala Oprah Winfrey) in these “Wish List Wednesday” posts. Click on the links where you can purchase online, or visit their shops where they’d be delighted to see you! All products come from local businesses, that have surely felt the sting of this pandemic. Be sure to visit them, and follow them on social media. If you have a shop you think I should feature, please send me a message.
It’s WEEK SIX of the Wednesday Wish Lists as we’re heading into MORE LOCKDOWNS with this pesty pandemic. With the holidays just a few weeks away, now is the perfect time to support local businesses by ordering from their online shops!!!!
ALSO…while you’re doing your local online shopping, I suggest you order some take-out from one of your favourite restaurants…they could all use our help as restaurants and bars (where I live in HRM) close their doors for the next few weeks to get the numbers under control!
Here are my Week 6 choices…as I showcase some of my favourite things and find something cozy, something shiny, something to wear, something tasty, something that makes me smile, and something for the home.
SOMETHING COZY:
While she doesn’t have an online shop, my friend Lisa at Mudwraps to Manicures, is certainly making shopping easy! Check her out on Instagram as she chats about the various items she has in store…where you can call in to purchase and then drive into their parking lot for a contactless pickup!
I’m kind of smitten with this cozy hat!! (And the very lovely woman who’s wearing it!)
Also…visit their website and book your Mani and Pedi for the holidays…even if you’ll be barefoot at home, admiring your pretty red toes all by yourself!
SOMETHING SHINY:
Basically…I like ALL THE THINGS at House of Moda located in Halifax
Seriously…take a peek through their website and TRY to find something you DON’T like…it’s near impossible!
My favourite though…is definitely their “charm bar” where you can put together the exact look you like…piecing together a number of sentimental charms onto a bracelet or necklace in either silver or gold.
Take a peek at their online shop to see all of their beautiful treasures…and be sure to follow them on Instagram.
SOMETHING TASTY:
For something TASTY…I’m going this week with one of the fabulous products from Black Harbour Distillery.
Located in Hubbards, the folks at Black Harbour are delivering to a number of locations, or you can drop into their shop when out for a drive.
I have tried ALL of their products…with their Blended and Maple Rums being my favourite…tied with their Blue Vodka…and tied with their Cotton Candy Vodka!
Visit them online and be sure to check out Jaime’s story BECAUSE SHE’S AWESOME!!! And…make sure to follow them on Instagram.
SOMETHING FUNNY:
Being that I’m from Newfoundland, I get a real kick out of Saucy Pots Pottery…mainly…well, because they’re saucy!
Check them out online to see all of the Newfoundland Humour in one spot…and make sure to follow them on the gram!!!
SOMETHING TO WEAR:
If you’re looking for something PERMANENT to wear…say on your arm, your ankle, or behind your ear…consider getting a TATTOO FROM MY DAUGHTER!
If you know someone who’d like a tattoo…you can get them a gift card to poke in their stocking!
Learn all about Megan from Sin on Skin’s website…and make sure to follow her on Instagram to see all of her work! #ProudMama!
SOMETHING FOR THE HOUSE:
One of my VERY FAVOurITE shops to wander around in is 31 Westgate, located on Doyle Street in Halifax.
I’m a fan of china dishes…and this Black Regal Peacock Burleigh collection is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!
Visit 31 Westgate at their shop, poke around looking at all of the wonderful things online, or check them out on Instagram.
SOMETHING FROM ME:
While I’m happy to support local businesses, I’d be super happy to have your support as well!
Visit my Etsy shop to order a customized print for the holidays, or take a peek at the custom birthday, wedding, and baby shower gifts. AND, be sure to follow my graphic design shop on Instagram at Drawbridge Creative , or my blog on Instagram at Queen of Curtains.
ALL DONE BUT THE WRAPPING!
And that’s another wrap! Head back up through the post and click on all of the links to peruse around the shops to find the treasures I suggested and some others you’re likely to find. It’s so important that we help out local businesses as we head into the holiday season as 2020 has surely been tough on so many entrepreneurs!
Happy Shopping!
Colleen
